There is great anticipation around the Rally di Roma Capitale, the valid appointment for the FIA ERC European Championship and for the 2021 Italian Rally Championship which from 23 to 25 July will bring the spectacle of Italian and international rallying to the streets of the capital.

The Motorsport Italia staff, coordinated by Max Rendina, have had to make a difficult but necessary decision in these hours in order to proceed with the intense planning work for the 2021 edition which will be characterized by important innovations especially relating to the route. In this new and spectacular conformation of the Rally di Roma Capitale, which will be unveiled soon, there will unfortunately be no Lido di Ostia, given that the uncertain health situation linked to the Covid-19 emergency does not allow to plan with certainty a happening with great involvement of the public such as the Villaggio dei Motori.

"Ever since we thought of the Villaggio dei Motori in Ostia - explained Max Rendina, - this event within the event has been designed and developed to involve spectators, enthusiasts and onlookers. There is no shortage of ideas, we were already ready last year and for this edition we had already structured the plan of a real mini motor fair that would have colored the seafront for several days with playful, recreational, exhibition activities and of course with adrenaline show of the Rally di Roma Capitale ".

In recent months, collaboration with the Municipality of Rome, the X Municipality and ASCOM, the Merchants' Association, has been fundamental and central. This synergy had made it possible to put on the table some interesting ideas aimed above all at enhancing the centrality of the territory in the Ostia project, such as the establishment of a White Night on the weekend of the Rally di Roma Capitale.

"We all know the national and international health situation - continued Rendina, - to create a happening of this magnitude you need months in advance, permits and agreements which, in this situation of uncertainty in which the DPCM dictate the pace of decisions, is not possible schedule a precise time schedule. In addition to this objective difficulty, there is also the fact that for all of us at Motorsport Italia, creating the Motorsport Village having to limit access or even block them would completely distort the project. The Rally di Roma Capitale in Ostia cannot exist without the joyful and passionate contribution of the public ”.

Hence the decision to postpone the Villaggio dei Motori to 2022, hoping that the situation can be regularized to allow us to return to the realization of what, internationally, was immediately considered one of the distinctive features of the Rally di Roma Capitale together with the parade in the center of Rome.
