The conference and debate "The road is not a video game" was held on Tuesday 25 July in the splendid setting of the Teatro Comunale in Fiuggi, a meeting open to all organized by Motorsport Italia, organizer of the Rally di Roma Capitale, in collaboration with the Municipality of Fiuggi, the Automobile Club of Frosinone, Safety Drive School, SS Lazio Wheelchair Basket and the Gaia von Freymann Foundation.

The evening was part of the collateral activities that revolve around the Rally di Roma Capitale, the event that will come alive from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 valid for both the FIA European Rally Championship and the Absolute Italian Rally Sparco Championship. On this occasion, topics related to the environment were also touched upon, a very important aspect in this year's edition.

Present were the Chief of the Local Police of Fiuggi Maria Assunta Trinti, Angelo Carlo Veneziano of Safe Drive School with Tonino Di Cosimo rally driver and safe driving instructor, the President of the Automobile Club of Frosinone Maurizio Federico, Inspector Danilo Pennacchia of the Police Stradale di Frosinone, the President of the SS Lazio Wheelchair Basket Moreno Paggi, the President of Motorsport Italia and creator of the Rally di Roma Capitale Max Rendina and the Founder of the Gaia von Freymann Foundation Edward von Freymann. The evening was moderated by the journalist Alessandro Biagi.

In front of an interested and attentive audience, the meeting turned into an important opportunity for training and testimony that combined the preparatory value of the event with respect to the issues of education and road safety, a very topical topic in this period after some recent news events that have brought these issues back to the center of public debate.

The speakers followed one another with interventions of great depth, insisting on the social security aspect that families, schools, associations must implement decisively in order to reduce the numbers of serious episodes which in Italy remain very high and exceed 3,000 cases a year. Particularly emotional were the testimonies of Moreno Poggi, President of SS Lazio Basket in wheelchairs and above all of Edward von Freymann who, after the disappearance of his daughter Gaia in the accident on Corso Francia in Rome in 2019 together with his friend Camilla, decided to establish the Foundation in memory of the girl to help legally and psychologically the families facing the drama of a death in a road accident.

“Life is short - Freymann said at the end of his speech greeted by thunderous applause - we think that one second can reverse destiny, can avoid writing more pages of pain. We are all responsible." His words immediately after a video that recounted his experience of him, a strong experience that today he offers as a testimony above all to young people.

“I wanted to thank the Mayor for the hospitality, all the authorities from the Traffic Police, Local Police, Fire Brigade and above all all my staff which involves over 1200 people and the Sapio family in Fiuggi. We have organized this evening because our discipline, unfortunately, is badly exposed, it is only talked about in negative situations and only rarely are the positive aspects proposed. Many drivers are also driving instructors, and road safety and education are a shared responsibility. Only through a synergistic collaboration can we hope to achieve the goal of safer roads for all” concluded Max Rendina.
